Is your project open source / can you provide a small working example to help me understand the goal here?.It sounds like you seek to have this generated in the generated root library document?.toctree:: directive to link the generated files from exhale, that directive is just linking to other pages but comes from sphinx. So, like creating a mainpage.rst, it's more or less entirely up to you. The index.rst document that you include with sphinx is a "standalone" document, unrelated to doxygen, exhale, or breathe. This definitely seems like a valid solution at least for now ? But I guess the question is what is it supposed to do / what are you seeking? Including extra information that you may already understand for any future readers, since the relationship between all of the tools is quite confusing ? My workaround is to create an mainpage.rst file and include it. Cross-referencing the breathe issue you opened breathe-doc/breathe#619 but I think this issue makes more sense to solve with exhale, or possibly discourage usage of \mainpage depending on the discussion. My read on this is that it's used to customize the index.html page, but maybe "index page" means something different here. Section \section, section \subsection, and section \page. You can refer to the main page using: \ref index. * * \section install_sec Installation * * \subsection step1 Step 1: Opening the box * * etc. *! \mainpage My Personal Index Page * * \section intro_sec Introduction * * This is the introduction.
