![]() ![]() Seriously if you watch nothing else watch that, it will help you with avoiding combat more than stealth ever will. If you want to see this in action, I recommend some videos by Retanaru here:Īnd probably the most informative and useful video on PZ I've ever seen, the zombie pathfinding and spotting mechanics explanation video here: But, this can help sneaking by a small number of zombies indoors or instant killing isolated zombies with a knife. This is really only relevant for zombies that are not facing you or have line of sight obscured, as you'll be spotted long before you are close enough for them to hear you. Graceful and lightfooted reduce the noise your footsteps make. You will get caught moving through the open, no matter what you do or what your stats are. So this means if you have two packs you want to go between no amount of stealth will help you. Being near a low fence or anything else that can be seen through does not reduce the range, either. They do NOT reduce the range at which you will be seen. Inconspicuous and levels of sneaking reduce the chance per tick a zombie will see you. I’m thinking of experimenting with Slow Healer in this build since Thick Skinned would act as a buffer against it and on my current character I’ve only been scratched once in the month he’s survived so it might be worth taking if you are careful. So stealth in zomboid does 2 things. Thick skinned will help against infection by keeping you from getting wounded. I don’t remember if corpses make you sick yet but it’s pretty easy to keep your living space and yourself clean. Prone to Illness - Outdoorsman makes this trait pretty negligible. You only read when you’re safe anyway so it’s not like you’d be in a hurry. If you don’t usually take it the difference may be a bit jarring but you’ll get used to it. Just keep 2 water bottles in your inventory and keep them filled and you’ll be fine. High Thirst - Water is fairly abundant in the early game, even a little bit after the water shuts off, and since you’ll easily get to Carpentry level 7 very early, you will be able to build the level 7 Rain Collector Barrels and get set up on water very quickly. First aid panic is pretty much irrelevant and in solo play you don’t need to perform first aid on others. Hemophobic - I haven’t had a chance to play today with the new patch, so I don’t know how debilitating the stress from bloody clothes is, but I imagine keeping your clothes clean will be easier later in the game when you’re set up away from zombies and not constantly in combat. You should be able to get up to a normal weight by 2 weeks or so if you make sure to eat plenty. Very Underweight - Strength reduction is negligible when paired with Stout, endurance reduction is not a huge problem either, proneness to injury is countered by Thick Skinned, and most of all it is very easy to gain weight in the early game to lose this trait. Another counterbalance to Prone to Illness and also to Very Underweightįast Learner - Stacks really nicely with your XP boosts from Repairman job and makes watching TV net you even more free skills Increased defense to help prevent infection. ![]() Also a counterbalance to Very Underweight. More carrying capacity, better combat, and easier to open windows. Will allow you to stockpile some high value items such as axes. Outdoorsman - Especially in the current build, weather conditions are a major factor so being able to largely ignore them is super valuable and it also acts as a counterbalance to Prone to Illness. Chopping trees takes a toll on your axes and you can repair them back to 75% condition using Wood Glue at level 4. Maintenance really is invaluable in the long run. Short Blunt is the most common weapon type in the game with an abundance of lead pipes, wooden mallets, club hammers, and more. With skill books you’ll easily get to level 7 within the first week. Paired with Fast Learner you can get to Carpentry level 5 just by watching every episode of “Woodcraft” without any skill books. Now, go to the crafting menu and go to the survivalist tab to find Stone Axe. Then, select an unused piece of clothing and rip it into sheets. These are the only 2 items you will need to make your very own stone axe. Repairman - The XP boosts in Carpentry, Short Blunt, and Maintenance are almost broken. Select materials and wait until you have gotten some tree branches and chipped stone. ![]() Negative Traits: Very Underweight, Hemophobic, Weak Stomach, High Thirst, Slow Reader, Prone to Illness Positive Traits: Outdoorsman, Lucky, Stout, Thick Skinned, Fast Learner What career and traits do you usually take in the current build? ![]()
